Who is sleeping with who, who is dating who, who is pregnant? The world wants to know…But WHY????

Brittany Spears and Demi Moore might be pregnant…so, my neighbor is pregnant…do you care? I don’t. Kevin might even leave Brit because she might be pregnant and he might not be ready for baby number three. People why do you care? I had to go online just to find this information because I didn’t know it.

Brad and Jen splitting up made headlines every where for quite sometime. Ok, just because he is back on the market ladies, doesn’t mean you stand a chance….EVER. Sorry to break it to you.

Why so we consume ourselves with their lives. We have our own lives to live. Just because you are not some hot shot celebrity doesn’t mean that your life is less important.

There are many more important things to consume your time with. Things that are actually news worthy, like the search for a new pope. And they arrested 3 British people they think were going to cause the next terrorist attack. Shows

I am sick and tired of all of these terrible shows that are our there right now. Ones that have no real point to them. People are totally cashing in on the Reality TV. MTV has shows like “Date my mom” or “Who wants a Famous Face”, how about who the hell wants to see the nasty, gross and creepy parts of plastic surgery. I don’t want to see them being cut up in the operating room. I guess it is good in a way that it shows the other side of plastic surgery, the not so glamorous side.
Or Nanny 911, or Super Nanny. These are basically pathetic people who can’t control their toddlers. I have been a nanny for the past 3 years, my first summer working I was pulling 60 hour weeks. I never had a problem like that with the children. How can you NOT control someone who is 1/3 your size(I am not saying hit them or anything) and 24 years younger. Then there are shows like Wife Swap or Trading Spouses. Why would you want to give your wife or hubby up for 2 weeks to have a complete stranger live with you. They love to find out what kind of person you are and then send in the complete opposite just to cause friction. Like for example if you are an animal lover and supporter of our great United States, then they will swap you with an angry, animal killing confederate. Because those are the type of people that work at those messed up broadcasting companies.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://meinallforms.blogspot.com/2005/03/terrible-reality-tv-shows.html' title='Terrible Reality T.V. I was very disappointed on November 2nd/3rd when the results came back. 57% of Michigan favored proposal 2. For those of you out there that may have forgotten, it was a ban on same sex marriages. The thing that gets me is the ban is based on a religion. But I thought we had a separation of church and state? What about the people that don’t believe in god, or have a whole other religion that they believe to be true, and their religion tells them that it’s ok to have same sex marriage. I personally do not believe that it is fair to say that because of what the majority believes has to be true. I know that most of the time we are a majority rules country. But right now I think our country is wrong.
First of all, it wouldn’t just ban gay marriage — which is already illegal. It would make one helluva mess for lots of people. That’s largely because it is sloppily and carelessly written. Proposal 2 would also, as I read it, ban civil unions, kill domestic partnership benefits for unmarried heterosexual couples, and might also threaten a wide variety of other contracts that have nothing to do with who has sex with whom.

Here’s what it says. Proposal 2 would amend Michigan’s Constitution to provide that “the union of one man and one woman in marriage shall be the only agreement recognized as a marriage or similar union for any purpose.”

Those last six words are the problem. What is a “similar union” and how far does “for any purpose” go? What is clear is that those behind the amendment are so opposed to the “gay lifestyle” that they want to make sure that gay people can’t enter into civil unions, or achieve anything else resembling a normal life.

The theory that that will end gay sex is clueless. Any time society makes responsible and sensible behavior impossible, it just makes neurotic and irresponsible behavior inevitable. Nobody “chooses” to be gay. Most experts now agree people are born that way.
Let’s get back to the problem with the wording of good ol’ Proposal 2. You can bet that the courts would interpret that forbidding recognition of any “similar union for any purpose” as giving employers the right and the duty to cut off marriage benefits to the life partners of unmarried workers.

That would mean hundreds or thousands of children would be deprived of health care and perhaps other benefits. What if two unmarried people enter into a contract under which each agrees to serve as the other’s legal guardian, should one of them lose their faculties? For all I know, that would be illegal too.

Honestly I don’t think that people really knew what they were voting for. I don’t think that they did the research for it, and that makes me sad. I am so disappointed in our society. Shame on you Michigan and all of you who voted yes.

Movie Scores

I think a part of our movies that people don’t really realize that much or possible take for granted is the score. For those of you who don’t know what the score is, it is the sound/music in the movie. I know you don’t think about it that much when you watch a movie, but can you imagine some of the movies without it. For example, watch the movie Psycho, by Alfred Hitchcock. When you get to the shower scene when she is going to be killed, turn the volume all the way off. Then rewind and watch it again with the sound. Trust me the music makes it a lot scarier.

Music makes movies what they are. Music is often used for foreshadowing, expressing emotions and feelings and can really set the mood for the movie. There is an 8 step program about teaching you how to pay better attention to the movie score…

1. Watch a movie all the way through as you normally would. Get a feel for the characters and the roles they play in the story.
2. Watch the movie a second time. This time pay close attention to the music that accompanies the action of the film.
3. Notice the themes that accompany certain characters and the variations they go through during the movie.
4. Listen for a love theme and have an opinion on whether or not it fits the passion of the scene.
5. Pick out the main title theme of the movie.
6. Decide whether this theme has a good, recognizable tune or not. Question whether it even needs one.
7. Buy the CD if you decide that you like the score.
8. Listen to the recording, analyzing each aspect of the score without the aid of the action on the screen.

I don’t expect everyone to go run out, rent a movie and follow all of these steps, but trust me, if you learn to pay more attention to the score, it really makes the movie that much better.

Michael Jackson

This is a short comment for my friends who read this. I don't know if you all know that this is not a personal blog for myself. It is for my writing 121 class, we have to write in here twice a week on the media.

Michael Jackson returns to court to fight his 10 charges of child abuse/molestation. He “fell ill” on his way to court last week with flu like symptoms and spent two days in the hospital and was given time to “recover”. Not only that but when Michael got to the court and didn’t feel so well, he requested to be given a few minutes to compose himself. A lady there had a heart attack moments before and was in the room he wanted. A woman who had suffered a massive heart attack died after hospital personnel moved her out of a trauma room to accommodate a flu-stricken Michael Jackson. How ridiculous is that. Apparently she had two more heart attacks while they were transporting her to a new room. This is my opinion I could be wrong but I think that when you are being charged with 10 accounts of child molestation/abuse you should NOT be given special accommodations for yourself.

I also do not totally agree with the family that is suing him though. It is not completely his fault, the medical personal that was there, let this happen. They should have known better than anyone else that moving her could mean her life. But they allowed that to happen anyways. I just don’t know if suing anyone will make the situation any better.

Negative News

The news seems to be the most depressing thing I’ve ever listen to. Day after day, the news is broadcasted on television about 9 times a day, give or take a few. But the thing is, they always seem to report negative stuff. Yes I know that there are evils in our world and we should be aware of them, but there are also things in our world that are positive. I do understand that we should know about some of the bad things going on, such as natural disasters, kidnappings, car accidents. Things like that we should be told about and how to help but we should not focus on only things like that. What about people who are doing good out there. What about people who are curing diseases, or how a small town basketball team just won state champions. Something that makes you smile.

I’m not saying that all news is evil and needs to stop. But it would just be a nice change, if maybe when I turn on the morning news, that I am able to see something else than other people suffering. I have become more fond of the show Regis and Kelly. They have an upbeat show for the most part. They are both extremely hilarious and they have fun with the show. I know it’s not exactly the news but at least they show the happier side of life

Super Size Me

As a society I think we have an obssesion with over weight people. There are shows out there now, where you watch people try to lose weight. How reduclious is that? Shows like Celebrity Fit Club, or The Biggest Loser. The sad thing is, that the biggest loser was a BIG hit. They took twelve people broke them into groups of 6 and they would lose work out and try to lose weight during the week and then every week they would have a challenge where they had to work as a team to complete it. At the end of the week they would weight in and see how much they lost, the team that lost the least would have to send someone home. It was so dumb, I don’t understand why we watch things like that. Then there was the movie Super Size Me. The guy literally only ate McDonalds for a month. He ended up gaining weight….there’s a shocker! Why would someone want to do that to themselves?

Trials and the Media

Trials and the media. It seems that when someone in Hollywood is being charged with rape, assult, murder, we want to be there for it all. We want to see them in their time of pain. The most recent trail that americans watched was the Scott Peterson triail, and he was a nobody. The thing is though, can you get a fair trial when the world is watching? Scott was convicted of muder and the jury kept saying that he showed no emotion. But who are they to say that, they are supposed to look at the evedince in the case not his emotional status.(Personally I think that he was guitly) But no we are coming up to the Michael Jackson trail. He is going on trial for sexually molesting little boys. Which is setting up to be the trail of the century. He has so much money though, you can pratically by off the jury if he wanted too. I once read a quote from someone that said “Rich men don’t go to jail”. Sometimes it really does seem that way.

Great Movies from our past

What ever happened to people making quality movies? I know that there are some movies out there that are still good but they are just not the same. I took a films class where I watched great movies. Movies like the African Queen, with Humphrey Bogart who is credited with being the best actor of all times. Not only was that but the female part played by Katharine Hepburn. This movie was made in 1951 and held the test of time, can we say that about many movies being made these days. Then there are other movies such a The Rear Window by Alfred Hitchcock. The cast for that movie consisted of James Stewart from It’s a Wonderful Life, and the beautiful Grace Kelly. And everybody knows Citizen Cane. These were come of the first movies to use different camera lenses such as fish eye, wild angel, and the telphoto lense. These things were new to the world then. These movies were made in the 50’s and people still talk about them today. If you have no seen any of these movies I STORNGY recommend that you see them, it WILL be worth you time. Which you can’t always say about the movies of today.

Anime

Anime is something that I think is not for young kids. My boyfriend’s younger sister got a book to help you draw anime. In it there were pictures of girls wearing barely any clothes at all and are in different poses not suitable for children, there was even a centerfold of a girl lying in a bed in lingerie. She just turned 12 and that was a gift from another 12 year old. It was terrible; we showed it to her mother who of course returned it immediately. This is some thing that should not be sold to children or should have ratings on it at least. Ever since it came over from Japan children have been eating it up, but the thing is, over in Japan it is targeted at ADULTS, over here they are targeting it at CHILDREN. I think this is something that we should put ratings on to prevent young children from being exposed to it.

Super Bowl Commercials

The super bowl commercials this year were quite interesting. Some of them were very good and then some of them were terrible. One of them blatantly used sex to sell their idea. I don’t even know what they were trying to sell! It was disgusting. A girl that looked like a stripper was wearing next to nothing, while talking to a panel of our senators. The commercial itself made no sense. At one point you thought she was going to have a wardrobe malfunction. It was for Go-daddy.com. Never heard of the place and I still don’t know what it is used for. Other commercials I thought were great. Ameriquest Mortgage Company did a great job with theirs. One a guy was thought to be robbing a store when in reality he was talking on a cell phone and the other one the lady thought her boyfriend just butchered her friendly feline. The commercials said “we don’t jump to conclusions”, as a sales pitch. I think they did a great job.

Victoria Secret

As the days go on, it seems that only “sex” can sell. Personally, I am getting offended by all of this; it is starting to bug me. Lots of companies are using this strategy to sell their products, but the sad thing is…it works. Victoria Secret seems to be the best at it. I know they sell Bra’s, underwear and lingerie, but the commercials…come on, do they really have to be the way they are. They are exposing small children to women rolling around in beds almost completely naked saying…”Spoil me”, “Love me” and more blah blah blah. They should at least not show those commercials until 9 or so, so young children aren’t exposed to them. They seem to have empty promises in the commercials, like you buy this and then you will look like this and everyone will want you. Yea right, not in this lifetime buddy. I guess this is just what our society has lowered itself to. But that’s just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Censorship

The censorship of television seems to be changing drastically. I remember when everything was totally censored, such as language and nudity. Now they say that you can say one swear word in a T.V. show and it won’t have to be censored. Not only that, but if the show is a “medical” show then it can show nudity, because it is for “medical” reasons. Last year I watched a T.V. show on MTV about plastic surgery. Yea, they left NOTHING to the imagination. It was really disgusting; I had to keep turning away. The thing is that I don’t really consider that for “medical” purposes. They are just trying to get more ratings, but shows breasts to perverted sick little fifteen year old boys that are tuning in. It is not like this is something that they were showing late at night either, it was like 8 P.M. I just find it interesting how people complain so much and say that they are going to crack down more often but do they….doesn’t seem like it. The profanity doesn’t really bother me, I just sick of empty promises.

White Noise and In Good Company

This weekend I saw two movies. I saw White Noise, and In Good Company. White Noise was about Michael Keaton hearing dead people. Oh how scary…not. It was through EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomenon) that his wife was prank calling him leaving messages on his answering machine that would disappear after she left it, T.V. and radio static. The movie is not really that long and you spend most of the time, watching him watch/listen to T.V. and radio static. There were times when you might jump but most of the time I was bored out of my mind.

The other movie that I saw was In Good Company. It stared Dennis Quaid and Topher Grace. Overall I thought that the movie was quite pleasing, but then again, my boyfriend hated it. It has a mushy plot to it, so that’s kind of what I expected. I am starting to love Topher Grace as an actor. You all know him in “That 70’s Show”, don’t bother asking me who he plays….because I have no idea…sorry. The movie was emotional and funny. It is something that maybe I would wait to see at my house, but I think it was money well spent.

Reality T.V.

The television is something that has become a part of our everyday lives. Things from the daily news, reality T.V. to sitcoms and a global perspective in television you can find everything. Although people complain about censorship and what their children are being exposed to at such a young age, people still can’t get enough.

The new phenomenon seems to be “reality” T.V. Shows you can “relate” to on everyday life…NOT! They have some of the most ridiculous things I have ever seen. Nanny 911, a new show based around nanny coming to save the day. They volunteer themselves to help a family in need. A family who’s parents do not seem to have any control over their three year old children. Although I don’t find it interesting or captivating, I do find it pathetic.

Then that leads into the discussion on what is real and what is not. These days you really do not know what is credible. “Reality” T.V. has shown to not be all that real. Shows like the “newlyweds” on MTV. They fed off of Jessica and her apparent stupidity. She made one comment and then things were blown out of proportion. I would like to think that she was fed some of those lines and things to say because the dumber she was the more people tuned in. The lower her IQ seemed to dropped the higher the ratings went. I think people liked to see that she was stupid, since she was already gorgeous, filthy rich and married to a extremely handsome man. America does not want to see a happy couple, pretty smart, and enjoying their lives together. We want stupidity, fighting, anger, that is what sells, and I think they knew it.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://meinallforms.blogspot.com/2005/01/reality-tv.html' title='Reality T.V.
